Pops the Dog needs a home
Pops is a laid back, 3 to 4 year old gentleman with a thick, soft, Husky-like coat and a medium-large 60 pound frame. He arrived with his younger friend Gomer a few days before Christmas, and they have obviously built quite a bond during their life adventures; however, due to his more relaxed demeanor and tendency to wander off by himself, I think he would probably be able to adjust to going their separate ways. Like Gomer, Pops gets along well and enjoys running and playing with other dogs, although he doesn’t have quite the same play drive or level of stamina. He seems to prefer being outside and will often lay in the yard surveying the neighborhood long after his other friends have asked to come inside. This may change when the weather warms up due to his thick fur, but for now he is certainly enjoying the brisk winter air. He also enjoys exploring a wide ranging area, so a rural setting with plenty of room to roam would be ideal. Pops appears to have a bit of hind end lameness upon rising and will also growl if you try to pick him up or brush too hard on his rear legs or tail but otherwise enjoys being brushed, petted and scratched. He is potty trained, rides well in a vehicle, and is calm on a leash, even around other dogs. His only two bad habits are an intense dislike of delivery drivers and a major attitude about giving up a bone. Because of his reflex to nip if his hind end is handled too roughly, a home with children too young to understand instructions about appropriate handling would not be suitable for Pops.
